About Me
Robert Jones
I am a language teaching professional with two decades of experience in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages including in academic, business and professional settings.
Most recently I have two and a half years experience providing personalised guidance and advice to English learners from around the world, supporting them in their journey of acquiring knowledge, skills and confidence in the use of English whether it’s for everyday life, work, or travel.
I can support learners with their needs, drawing on a broad experience across a diverse range of professional and academic backgrounds including in languages, international development, political science, international relations, compliance and corruption studies, security and agriculture.
I am from Shropshire in the United Kingdom. I speak English with a ‘Southern Standard English’ or ‘BBC’ accent. I am also a proficient speaker of Spanish.

Driven by science and research
Traditional approaches to language teaching and learning focus on memorising grammar and vocabulary, studying textbooks and forced repetition exercises. My approach is based on research into the science of Second Language Acquisition which, since the 1970s, has consistently demonstrated that competence and fluency in a new language is achieved through meaningful communication and comprehensible input – reading, listening, and interacting with people.
Qualified
I am a fully qualified language teacher. I completed a bachelor’s degree in International Studies incorporating English as a World Language and Advanced Spanish.
Experienced
I have decades of experience teaching English as a Second Language to adults and teenagers at university, private schools, independently and online.
Committed
Language learning and teaching is not just a job, it is a passion and a vocation for me. I love learning about languages and culture from all over the world and I love helping others to acquire fluency in English.
